Rotarians are people of action and in this case, the action is scrubbing down rooms at the new Layman's Way Recovery Center, a substance abuse rehab center in Sanford, Maine. The center will be operated by York County Shelters Program and is supported by York County government. Diane Gerry is the COO and will be running the new facility. York County Shelter Programs (YCSP), York County Government, and the York County District Attorney’s Office have spent multiple months collaborating and designing a program unlike any other in the State of Maine.  The primary focus of their efforts was to reduce the number of non-violent offenders with substance abuse issues currently overcrowding our jail system, and to provide much needed treatment services in Southern Maine. Several Rotarian cleaning crews pitched in helping to transform the recovery center into a warm and comfortable place.
